ODE TO ED COLEMAN aka SEFERINO by Kirby G. Salisbury

I flipped on the switch
and heard the cock crow;
and knew I was tuned to
the Ed Coleman show.

Then came "Good Morning"
said ten ways plus two;
though few could be proved
by any maestro I knew.

He sang "Happy Birthday"
and made Miss Cho glad;
with a good ear for tune
and a tenor not bad.

To recall all his names
would make one quite vexed;
and I suspected they changed
from one week to the next.

Then he told every body
to get out of the sack;
this country can't build
if we're lazy and slack.

And so I went out to work
though rainy and grey;
and knew I felt better for
he brightened my day.

Ed, go with our love
to your job that is new;
for there must be days the Lord
needs cheering up too.
